Calilayan Cove, Unisan, Quezon Province

Clean, affordable and comfortable stay in a not-so-crowded beach. Serene. Calilayan Cove Beach Park and Restaurant is definitely one of our nice finds!

In Unisan Quezon, 3.5 hours away from Los Banos (Or 5.5 hours away from Manila) lies Calilayan beach cove. The fact that it is quite a long way to get there and it is not easily accessible from passers by keeps the beach’s serenity. Resort staff roams around from time to time keeping the cleanliness of the place.

An overnight stay on one of their cottages (bahay kubo non air-conditioned) costs 2,900 overnight. Additional 100 pesos for every guest in excess. This cottage, though good for only 4pax can actually fit up to 15pax. Check in starts at 2:00pm and checkout is at 12nn. Cottage includes an electric fan that you will only find useful in the morning as the sea breeze is cold in the evening. Bring your own mattress, pillows and blankets. Cottages are placed approx 10 meters apart, good for social distancing.

Bring your hammock and camping tents! Tent spaces costs 700-900 only. If you dont have one, you can rent a tent for 1,500 to 2,000 pesos only.

You can buy goods from a nearby local market, then cook them in their grill area for free. You can also bring your air fryer and rice cooker! You can use their common-use gas stove as well. Single use of gas stove costs only 100 pesos. 300 pesos for unlimited use during your stay.

There are a total of 6 public toilets and 8 showers in the area

For a more comfortable stay, airconditioned rooms with private toilet and bath equipped with a heater are also available. Price starts at 7,500. Below is a picture of Silid ni Ben which comes with a private balcony / dining area.

For activities, you can rent a volleyball or a frisbee by simply providing an ID. There are swings available for kids and kids at heart. Kayak and floaters available for 500 per hour. Shoot bean bags or play giant jenga.

Rent a private boat good for up to 10 pax for 1000 pesos. Additional 100 pesos per head in excess, maximum of 15 pax. Your boat ride will take you to two destinations. In the middle of the sea where you can swim and on a rocky part of the cove where you can’t swim but take photos with the picturesque land form.

At night, request for a bonfire for 200 php. In the morning, Watch out for freshly caught seafood by local fishermen for your pasalubong!
